An elderly man died after he collapsed at Little India MRT station during lunchtime on Feb 28.

Stomper Evelyn, who witnessed the incident, shared a video showing both members of the public and station staff performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) on the man.

"Kudos to the unsung heroes, members of the public and station staff of Little India MRT Station for doing CPR and AED on the elderly man," she said.

In response to a Stomp query, SBS Transit shared more details about the incident.

"On 28 February 2025, at about 12.50pm, our station staff at the Little India Station on the Downtown Line were alerted to an incident of a passenger who had collapsed," SBS Transit spokesperson Mrs Grace Wu said.

"Without hesitation, the three of them rushed down to the platform, carrying with them an automated external defibrillator (AED)."

By then, a commuter was already performing CPR on the man who was lying on the ground.

"Our staff immediately took turns with the commuter to continue the CPR before applying the AED," Mrs Wu said.

"Thanks to their concerted efforts, the passenger regained consciousness after a few minutes before the paramedics arrived.

"We are incredibly proud of our station staff and commend them for their courage and presence of mind in responding to the emergency.

"Equipped with CPR skills and AED knowledge, we are glad that they had put their training to good use to save a life and demonstrated our core value of care towards our passengers.

"We also deeply appreciate the four commuters who had stepped forward to render assistance.

"Thank you for being caring commuters with your actions that made a significant difference!

"We would also like to wish the gentleman who was conveyed to hospital a speedy and complete recovery."

Unfortunately, the man's family reached out to Stomp on Mar 5 and said that he had died following the incident.
