'Shockingly confident' crow swoops at tourists at RWS
A day of fun at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) took a surprising turn for a visitor, whose outing was interrupted by an unexpected menace: an overly excited crow.
Stomper Anonymous shared photos and videos showing a crow swooping near a few people at the tourist attraction. In one shot, a crow can be seen flying directly towards a woman, apparently aiming for the food in her hand.
The crow is also spotted stealing food wrappers lying near tourists.
According to the Stomper, crows have grown "shockingly confident" around people.
"We had to grab our things and run," Anonymous recounted.
While the Stomper has seen crow-control efforts in Singapore's heartlands, it seems like a "different story" at RWS, the Stomper alleged.
"A combination of readily available food scraps and a lack of natural predators has empowered the crow population at RWS, leading to this outrageous scavenging behaviour."
Measures in place to keep crows away
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for RWS said: "The safety and well-being of our guests and visitors are always our top priority. We carry out regular inspections and have measures in place to keep crows away from our resort.
"We have not observed any increase in crow presence, and will continue to take preventive actions, including effective waste management practices and the proper removal of unattended food.
"We also encourage our visitors to keep food waste secured and refrain from feeding the birds."
