Rider taken to hospital after motorcycle skids, gets dragged by taxi on PIE: Cabby assisting with investigations
An 18-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital after an accident involving a taxi along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards Changi Airport on July 21.
The police told Stomp they were alerted to the incident at about 5.30pm.
The rider was taken conscious to the hospital, a police spokesperson said.
A 69-year-old taxi driver is assisting with investigations.
A video posted on ROADS.sg's Facebook page shows the motorcycle skidding and falling onto the road.
The bike is then seen being dragged several metres by a green taxi, that appears to be a Strides Premier cab, while the rider rolls out from the opposite side of the vehicle.
The taxi did not stop throughout the incident.
Netizens speculated that the rider may have hit a pothole before losing control of his bike. Many also questioned why the taxi driver failed to stop after the collision.
Stomp has contacted Strides Premier for comment.
Police investigations are ongoing.
