Rider abandons e-bike and flees after getting stopped by officers in Sengkang, LTA investigating

An e-bike rider was seen fleeing the scene after getting stopped by officers in Sengkang on Jan 28.

Stomper Lee alerted Stomp to a video of the incident which was posted on SG Road Vigilante's Facebook page.

In the video, a man wearing a helmet is observed abandoning his e-bike and running away after being stopped by officers who are believed to be from the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Voices in the video can be heard speculating that the man's device may be 'illegal'.

The officers do not pursue the rider but continue to inspect and take photos of the e-bike.

Stomp understands that the LTA is investigating the incident.

Those found guilty of using non-compliant active mobility devices may be fined up to $10,000, jailed for up to six months, or both.

A person found guilty of dangerous or reckless riding on public paths may be jailed for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000 or both.
