Renovation contractors have 'bad habit' of using Tampines void deck as dumping ground: Resident
Renovation contractors at Block 366 Tampines Street 34 often do not clean up after themselves and instead leave a mess behind, said a resident.
Stomper Francis said: "They have a bad habit of leaving surplus material at the void deck. A void deck is not a dumping ground for these.
"It's not just the void deck too. There's also renovation debris left in the lifts, and other items dumped along the pathways and roads."
Francis shared photos showing materials such as cardboard left at the void deck, as well as dust around the lift area.

"I have observed that this always happens when renovation work is completed and the contractors expect the cleaners to clear up for them," added the Stomper.
"It is not the job of town council cleaners to clear the heavy and bulky mess. Doing so for the contractors will only feed their bad habits.
"I contacted the town council and as always, they referred the matter to the Housing & Development Board (HDB). It takes a long time to clear the area, and only after numerous follow-ups by residents."
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for Tampines Town Council said: "Thank you for sharing the case.
"We are monitoring the situation closely and have removed the renovation debris, which could have originated from an HDB unit, and cleaned up the void deck at the block.
"A notice has been put up in the area, and an advisory has been issued to the unit concerned to remind both residents and their contractors to dispose of renovation debris at approved sites."
The case has also been referred to HDB, which approves renovation permits.
"Renovation contractors are required to make proper arrangements for the disposal of their debris," the spokesman added.
"In cases of improper disposal, they may face penalties, including fines and demerit points, following investigations by the town council and HDB.
"The town council acknowledges that the common area should have been cleared more swiftly in this instance. We apologise for the delay and will be reviewing our internal workflows to perform better moving forward.
"We also seek homeowners' cooperation in ensuring that their renovation contractors comply with HDB guidelines and refrain from improper debris disposal, for the safety and well-being of all residents."
