A 54-year-old man was arrested for housebreaking and theft at a restaurant at Choa Chu Kang Drive.
The police were alerted on May 15 at about 11.40am after two receipt printers valued at more than $1,000 were purportedly stolen.
Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from the police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.
The man was to be charged in court on May 17 with the offence of housebreaking and theft punishable with an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
The police advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while.
- Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in your premises.
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
