Queenstown resident complies with request to remove big corridor plant that might hit people's faces

Every time Stomper Marc walks past his Queenstown neighbour's unit to take the lift, he has to navigate an obstacle course - of plants.

Marc shared photos of potted plants and furniture cluttering the 12th-floor corridor of Block 83 Commonwealth Crescent.

One plant in particular appeared overgrown and can be seen blocking the way.

Marc told Stomp: "Every time I walk past, I have to bend down to prevent the plant from hitting my face."

Marc said it made him wonder about elderly people who have difficulty bending down.

"Will they have to let themselves be hit by the plant or do they have to use their hands to push the plant away in order to walk through?" he asked.

"May I know if such a big plant is even allowed in a cramped corridor? I hope the town council can do something about it."

In response to a Stomp query, Tanjong Pagar Town Council said it had requested the resident to remove the overgrown plant and he has since complied with this request.

A spokeswoman told Stomp on Sept 11: "We have also asked him to tidy up the corridor area. He has requested a week to complete this task, citing partial physical disability as the need for additional time. We will follow up after the agreed period to ensure compliance."
