A Punggol resident had three pairs of shoes stolen from the shoe rack outside his flat on July 8.

So Stomper James decided to do something about it besides making a police report.

"Initially, I hoped my neighbor's digital lock - which has a sensor camera facing my door -might have captured the theft," said the Stomper, who lives at Edgefield Plains.

"Unfortunately, their camera doesn't record footage, so I decided to install my own CCTV to monitor the area, assuming the thief might not return."

But he was wrong.

"To my surprise, on July 14, while reviewing the footage, I caught a young man stealing again. This time, taking a pair of shoes that actually belonged to my neighbor! The footage clearly shows him 'shopping'," said the Stomper, who shared CCTV video taken at 4.51am.

The video shows the young man walking slowly towards the Stomper's door and stopping to look before deciding to pick up a pair of shoes and quickly leave.

The Stomper said he doesn't recognise the individual.

"But based on the 'feel', he doesn't look like he lives in the neighbourhood," said the resident.

The good news is the Stomper said he was informed by the police that his shoes were recovered, but no word on the neighbour's shoes.

"The important thing is that the case was solved and to be honest, it's not what I expected. So it's good to encourage others who suffer from such theft cases to report," added the Stomper.

In response to a Stomp query, the police confirmed a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
