Plan on keeping an exotic animal as a pet? Be warned, it might be illegal
Having exotic animals as pets might up your cool factor on social media, but do take note, it is illegal to own some animals in Singapore.
Stomper Jayden alerted Stomp to an advertisement posted by Julieta Diann on Facebook selling exotic animals like hedgehogs and what appears to be a sugar glider.
According to the website of the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore, it is illegal to own those animals. Reasons for the animals being classified as 'illegal wildlife' include the risk they pose to Singapore's biodiversity and the threat they pose to public health.
So, if you ever plan on buying an exotic animal, please make sure it is allowed first.
