It is not your usual cheerleader display of pom poms and stunts, but has gotten the internet all hyped up anyway.

The Pikki Pikki dance involves swivelling as well as swinging your hands with your thumbs up, against a lively drumbeat and a squeaky rhythm.

A video of the hypnotising routine, performed by the cheerleaders of Gwangju-based KBO League's Kia Tigers, has amassed over 81 millions views ever since it was posted in June.

As a result, the electrifying trend is surging in popularity on social media recently despite having existed since 2022.

In the viral video, cheerleader Lee Joo-eun flawlessly transitions from touching up her makeup to bursting into dance, all without breaking a sweat.

The dance is performed only when the Kia Tigers pitcher strikes out an opposing batter, as a way for the cheerleaders to applaud their team and tease the opposition, reported British publication The Independent.

Many influencers and celebrities worldwide have since jumped on the bandwagon, including Olivia Rodrigo.

The American singer-songwriter's rendition of the iconic dance has garnered more than 17.8 million views on TikTok since Sept 21 and was captioned: "ily korea".
