A private-hire vehicle (PHV) driver received a formal warning from Tada after she was caught on camera using a phone and handling money while driving.

Stomper G, who was a passenger in the PHV, shared a video of the incident on Oct 24.

The 49-second video, taken from the backseat, shows the driver looking at and interacting with her phone. She then re-arranged several $10 notes before putting them aside.

While the driver appeared to have stopped for a traffic light at the time, when the Honda Vezel started moving, she picked up the phone again and appeared to select a map app.

"I experienced a Tada driver using a mobile phone while driving and had a few near accidents," said the Stomper, who was taking the PHV from Buangkok to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The Stomper informed Tada, who responded to her feedback on Oct 29.

Tada replied to the Stomper: "We have reviewed the video provided for this trip.

"Rest assured that we will continue to monitor the driver's account closely and will remind them of the critical importance of maintaining full attention on the road at all times, in order to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and distress this experience may have caused you."

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Tada said: "At Tada, the safety of our riders and drivers is our utmost priority and we take every feedback very seriously.

"We are aware of the incident and following our internal review, a formal warning has been issued to the driver involved, and his account will continue to be monitored closely.

"We regularly remind our driver community about the importance of safe and responsible driving, including remaining hands-free while on the road.

"We are committed to ensuring that every ride with Tada is safe and reliable."
