PHV driver hurt after blocking another at Gallop Road, both investigated for intentional harassment
Two private-hire vehicle (PHV) drivers are assisting with investigations for intentional harassment after a dispute at Gallop Road on Aug 23.
Stomper Randy alerted Stomp to a dashcam video of the incident posted online.
The video shows a bespectacled man standing in the middle of a narrow road in front of the cam car. He appeared to be the driver of a white Toyota Voxy parked nearby on the side of the road and holding a flask.
According to the video description, the Toyota driver picked up a passenger "but refused to fulfill the order and didn't want to cancel" as he had picked up the passenger already.
The passenger was driven back to the pick-up point and called for another PHV.
After the passenger boarded the second PHV, which is the cam car, the Toyota driver stood in the middle of the road to prevent the cam car from moving forward, which is shown in the video.
When the cam car driver asked the Toyota driver to get out of the way, the latter said the police were coming. The cam car driver sounded his horn and argued with the Toyota driver to no avail.
The Toyota driver later started to move aside because of an oncoming car, but then the cam car driver uttered a vulgarity, which the other man heard. Triggered, the Toyota driver walked threateningly towards the driver's side of the cam car.
The cam car driver took the opportunity to drive off and the sound of clattering metal can be heard.
According to the video description, the Toyota driver "purposely ran to the driver's side and hit the side mirror and claimed he was hit".
The Toyota driver later posted about the incident on PHV Community Facebook group: "Champion that second Grab car guy. He did not know the reason the passenger was sent back to pick-up point.
"Even after he was kindly informed that law enforcement was arriving by the first Grab car driver, he still risked a rash act and hit-and-run for his precious fare.
"He posted himself swearing vulgarity recorded by his in-car camera when the passenger was on board his car. Grab should give him an award."
He also shared a photo of a medical certificate from Tan Tock Seng Hospital granting him sick leave from Aug 23 to 27. The document states that he was in the emergency department on the day of the incident from 5.07pm to 6.55pm.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance at 27 Gallop Road at about 1pm.
The Toyota driver, 48, sustained minor injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital, said the police.
He and the other driver, 41, are assisting with investigations for intentional harassment. The cam car driver is also being investigated for a rash act causing hurt.
Police investigations are ongoing.
