People 'deliberately avoid' giving up seats to pregnant woman on her daily commute, says her hubby

A man expressed disappointment in how commuters on public transport seem to "ignore" his pregnant wife instead of giving up their bus and train seats to her.
Stomper Xavier said his wife is 36 years old and currently seven months pregnant.
Emphasising "the importance of courtesy", he told Stomp: "Every day, my pregnant wife takes public transport and it's disheartening to witness a recurring issue: despite her visible pregnancy, many commuters fail to offer their seats. While some may not even notice, others seem to deliberately avoid making space."
Xavier shared photos of MRT commuters either engrossed in their mobile devices or with their eyes closed, seemingly asleep.
The pictures, taken on different trains, also show three priority seats being occupied by people who appear young and able-bodied. All three were using their handphones.
Xavier's wife did not have a better experience on buses.
The Stomper said his wife did not approach anyone for a seat due to her soft-spoken nature, adding: "However, most of the people in the priority seats clearly noticed her large belly, yet none offered to give up their seats.
"Public transport should be a place of courtesy and consideration, especially for those who need it most, such as the elderly, disabled, and pregnant individuals.
"It's not just about a seat; it's about showing empathy and respect for others. Simple acts of kindness, like offering a seat, can make a huge difference in someone's day and contribute to a more considerate society."
