Merc driver arrested for drink driving after allegedly crashing into man, 71, waiting to cross road

A 37-year-old man was arrested for drink driving after an accident at the junction of Lavender Street and Serangoon Road on the night of Oct 3.

A 71-year-old male pedestrian was conscious when taken to the hospital, the police told Stomp.

Stomper Nic shared photos of the accident's aftermath showing a black Mercedes-Benz crashed into a lamp post.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the crash at about 9.10pm.

Witnesses told Shin Min Daily News that the pedestrian was pushing a trolley and holding a bird cage when he was hit by the Mercedes while he was waiting to cross the road. He was flung 2m and suffered leg injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
