In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at 25 Opal Crescent at 7.55am.

The fire, involving the kitchen exhaust duct of a stove, was extinguished using a water jet.

Twelve people were evacuated from the neighbouring units by the police.

There were no reported injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire had started due to overheating of the kitchen exhaust duct.

SCDF added that it would like to remind the public, especially stall holders, of fire safety tips to prevent kitchen exhaust duct fires.
