North Bridge Road flat splashed with red paint, man arrested for loanshark harassment
A 24-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment at North Bridge Road.
The police were alerted on April 27 at about 3.30am after the main gate and door of a flat were splashed with red paint.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Central Police Division and Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him the next day.
He will be charged in court on April 29 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.
For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
The police advise the public to stay away from loan sharks and not to work with or assist them in any way. You can call 999 if they suspect or know of anyone who could be involved in loansharking activities.
