No one let injured woman have MRT seat except foreign worker: 'What's happening to S'poreans'?
Welcome to Stomping Ground - a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.
It was a moment of kindness that stayed with her.
But Stomper Dawn was also left thinking about the ugliness of Singaporeans.
She shared her experience on a train on the Circle Line during June 11's evening rush hour.
Dawn said: "I'm currently recovering from an injury and have to wear a cast. I took the train and to my dismay, every seat was quickly taken by people who either buried themselves in their phones or pretended to fall asleep.
"Struggling to stay balanced as the train moved, I gripped the handrails tightly, trying not to fall.
"Just as I was starting to lose hope, a foreign worker noticed me and kindly offered his seat. I was incredibly grateful.
"The moment stayed with me. Aren't we all taught to show kindness and consideration, especially to those in need?
"Moments like these make me wonder - have we forgotten those basic values, or has something in our system failed to nurture them? What is happening to Singaporeans?"
