A 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were arrested for their alleged involvement in the death of their eight-month-old son.

The police were alerted to the case at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital on Sept 2 at about 12.40am.

Chloe Gan Ci Xua and Neo Jia Ming were charged in court on Sept 3 for causing and allowing death of child below 14 years of age in the same household, which is punishable with an imprisonment term of up to 20 years, and shall also be liable to fine, or to caning.

The Singaporean pair, who married in August 2023, are accused of committing the offences in a flat at Block 210 Hougang Street 21 on Sept 1.

Gan is alleged to have performed an undisclosed unlawful act on her baby, Trevor Neo Yu Hin, that led to his death.

Neo is said to have allowed Trevor’s death to occur and failed to take steps to protect his son.

Police investigations are ongoing.
