Motorcyclist killed on CTE: 2 men who drove up to 192kmh to be charged with culpable homicide

Two men, aged 33 and 34, will be charged in court on Oct 28 for culpable homicide not amounting to murder following a fatal accident on Jan 14, 2024.

The police said they were alerted at about 1.54am to the accident involving two cars and a motorcycle along Central Expressway towards Seletar Expressway.

A male motorcyclist, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations revealed that the drivers of both cars were allegedly engaging in overtaking manoeuvres with each other and travelling at excessive speeds of about 170kmh and 192kmh respectively, far exceeding the prescribed speed limit of 90kmh for the road.

Both man were arrested and their licences were immediately suspended.

The offence of culpable homicide not amounting to murder carries an imprisonment term of up to 15 years, a fine, caning or a combination of these penalties.
