A 27-year-old motorcyclist died after he was involved in an accident with a lorry on the SLE on March 24.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident, which happened on the SLE towards BKE near the Woodlands Ave 2 exit, at about 9.30am.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

A 71-year-old man, who was driving the lorry, is assisting with investigations, the police said.

A video posted on Facebook on March 25 shows two lorries in the centre lane, with a severely wrecked motorcycle lying between them. The motorcyclist is seen on the ground nearby.

In another video, an Emas recovery truck, a police car and a blue police tent can be seen at the scene.

Traffic accidents have claimed the lives of 139 people in 2024, an increase from the 131 deaths in 2023, according to latest annual statistics report released by the Traffic Police.

Motorcyclists and pillion riders accounted for more than half of those fatalities.
