Fast food chain Mos Burger has apologised after birds were spotted pecking at buns left outside its Millenia Walk outlet.

Stomper Sunny said the incident happened on Feb 22 at about 8.51 am, when he saw two trays of burger buns left unattended at the store's outdoor seating area.

A video he shared shows two birds around the food.

As a customer who has patronised the outlet "a few times", Sunny said this left him feeling "quite concerned" and "uneasy".

He added that the plastic bags containing the buns had already been pecked through by crows, which had fed on them.

Sunny told Stomp: "While I understand that this may not represent the food that is eventually served, the situation does not give customers confidence that proper food handling and disposal practices are in place."

In response to a Stomp query, MOS Burger said it was "sorry" to learn of the incident and had immediately carried out an investigation.

"The buns were delivered earlier that morning, before our staff arrived to begin operations," a spokesperson said.

"Unfortunately, they were left unattended for a short period of time, during which the birds were observed pecking at them."

The spokesperson also acknowledged that the incident "should not have happened", adding: "At MOS Burger, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. This incident does not reflect the standard of cleanliness and attentiveness that we uphold."

According to the spokesperson, the affected buns were immediately discarded.

Mos Burger has since addressed the issue with its supplier and "reinforced the importance of maintaining proper product handling at all times". Additional measures have also been implemented to prevent a recurrence.

"We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention as it helps us improve and maintain the standards to our customers," the spokesperson added.
