Step out onto the 26th floor of a Housing Board (HDB) block at Northshore Cove and you will be greeted by a sight like no other.

The lift lobby, corridor and common spaces have all been adorned with furniture, various decorative items and plants. Lots and lots of plants.

And honestly? It felt extremely homely and welcoming when Stomp visited the block.

Our visit was sparked by feedback from Stomper B, who expressed concerns over overgrown plants on the air-con ledge above his unit and asked: "Is this allowed?"

He said the issue has been ongoing for two years, adding: "It's on the top floor and many neighbours are affected when the owner sprays water for the plants, causing all the dirt to drop all over our air-con ledges.

"When people who are hanging clothes outside shout to ask why they are spraying water, the owner will always reply 'sorry' but still continue doing it.

"We called the town council regarding this, but their reply was that it's not an issue as long it's not endangering anyone and the big pot of plant won't fall.

"One neighbour has also seen the owner trimming the plants and just throwing the leaves out from the ledge.

"They also take out their carpets and throw all the dust out of their window, so now we don't even dare to open our windows as the wind will blow the dust through.

"Few of us neighbours have been wondering why the town council can't do anything at all."

When Stomp visited the flat in question, an elderly woman happened to be sweeping the doorstep.

The 80-year-old woman has been living in the three-room flat with her daughter and her daughter's husband for over a year.

She told Stomp that the plants are watered and cared for by her daughter, who is in her 30s.

"It's tedious and not easy," the elderly woman shared.

She and her family are not the only ones who have transformed their surroundings: Stroll down and you can find a sitting area at the end of the corridor.

The elderly woman said the cosy setup belongs to her neighbours.

The staircase landing next to the elderly woman's flat, however, was in a more unsightly state with items cluttering the space.

Asked if anyone has complained about the various fixtures outside her home, the elderly woman told Stomp: "No, everyone here is very good."

However, Stomper B said: "They have not considered others and only think about themselves because they are staying on the highest floor."

Stomp has contacted the town council for more info.
