Men threaten to punch Stomper after he took pics of them fishing illegally at Punggol Waterway Park
Two men allegedly turned aggressive and threatened violence after they were caught fishing illegally at Punggol Waterway Park.
Stomper Patrick said he encountered the pair of anglers at the park, next to Edgedale Plains, on the morning of Jan 6.
He recounted: "They caught fish, took pictures, threw the fish back into the water, then threatened to punch me because I took photos of them.
"They did not say much but were very aggressive, showing their middle fingers and threatening to 'whip my white a**'.
"It feels strange as they are clearly in the wrong but are threatening others. I guess there are strange people everywhere."
According to the National Parks Board (NParks), fishing is not allowed in Punggol Waterway Park.
Those who wish to fish may do so at designated points along Punggol Promenade Punggol Point Walk and Punggol Promenade Nature Walk.
Those caught fishing at no-fishing areas can be fined up to $3,000. In areas managed by NParks, offenders can be fined up to $5,000 for fishing in no-fishing areas and up to $50,000 in nature reserves.
