Men get into dispute on CNY after one of them allegedly points his middle finger at the other's wife
Two men are assisting with investigations after they were caught on video 'going at each other' in a dispute at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and Ang Mo Kio Street 22.
The incident happened on Jan 29 at about 2.15pm.
Stomper Lee alerted Stomp to a video of the dispute which was posted on SG Road Vigilante's YouTube channel.
In the video, a woman in pink is seen attempting to push back a man in red as she talks to another man in white.
The man in red then appears to push the other man's face before a younger man-who is seemingly the son of the man in red-intervenes by shouting and pulling him away.
Netizens praised the younger man for stepping in to defuse the situation, with one commenter writing: "The son. The MVP. The most mature yet the youngest among them."
According to an update in the post's caption, the man in the red shirt shared his version of events.
He clarified that it was his wife, not him, who had been driving.
The blue car they were in stopped on the left-most side of the road with hazard lights on because someone in the car was not feeling well.
"Experienced drivers will understand, something might have happened in the car," he said.
However, the other driver allegedly 'blasted' his horn at them before pointing his middle finger at his wife.
"Will you calmly sit and ignore and forget about it?" he asked.
"I just wanted to go down to ask why he pointed his middle finger at my wife and to apologise to her."
He said the other driver then turned 'aggressive' and argued with them over why they stopped.
"He had pushed me several times before I reacted with the thenar part of my palm to push him back," he said.
"Eventually we were the ones who called the police in order not to escalate the matter further.
"P.S. Talking loudly doesn't mean anger issue."
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to a dispute along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 at about 2.15pm.
"A 45-year-old man sustained minor injuries but refused conveyance," a police spokesperson said.
"He is assisting with investigations for mischief and voluntarily causing hurt.
"Another 37-year-old man is assisting with investigations for intentional harassment."
Police investigations are ongoing.
