A 29-year-old man allegedly entered various food stalls and restaurants in shopping malls during closing hours and stole from their cash registers.

The police said they received multiple reports from F&B outlets between Jan 9 and Jan 15.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTV and police cameras, officers from Tanglin Police Division, Bedok Police Division and Central Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him on Jan 16.

The man had worn a face mask whilst committing the thefts to conceal his facial features and to avoid detection.

A total of about $5,500 was stolen from the reported cases.

The man was charged in court on Jan 18 with the offence of theft in dwelling, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.
