Man 'uncooperative' after caught smoking at airport, incident reported to police: NEA
A man who was caught smoking at Changi Airport was uncooperative when being engaged by enforcement officers, said the National Environment Agency (NEA).
A video of the Aug 13 incident was posted on TikTok and has sparked heated debate online, it was earlier reported.
NEA told Stomp in a statement on Aug 19: "Our enforcement officers witnessed a person smoking under a covered walkway near the pick-up point at Terminal 1, which is an offence under Section 3 (2) of the Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) Act.
"The offence was captured on the officers' body-worn cameras. Our officers proceeded to engage him by identifying themselves and informing him of the offence he had committed. The person was uncooperative during the engagement."
NEA said the incident has been reported to the police and investigations are ongoing.
