Stomper thinks you shouldn't be allowed to spend CDC vouchers on PS5, Government should control use
A man was unhappy with a tech store's promotional video encouraging customers to buy a Playstation 5 with Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers.
Stomper Nic alerted Stomp to a TikTok video posted on May 20 by Gadget Mobile in Tampines promoting a PS5.
The video shows a member of the staff showing off the gaming console with the caption claiming customers can use CDC vouchers to purchase it.
Nic said: "This defeats the purpose of CDC vouchers for essential items. The Government should step in and control this."
According to the official website, the CDC vouchers are to "help with daily expenses" and can be used at hawker stalls and heartland merchants where a teal or yellow CDC voucher decal is seen.
The CDC Vouchers Scheme also aims to help heartland merchants and hawkers in their businesses. Heartland merchants in trades involving daily necessities and services and hawkers would generally be eligible to be enrolled into the scheme.
Visit go.gov.sg/cdcvouchers to search for the nearest participating hawkers and heartland merchants, and participating supermarkets.
