A 37-year-old man was tasered after allegedly swinging a knife at a police officer on Oct 27.

Officers from Bedok Police Division were patrolling in the vicinity of Block 12 Bedok South Avenue 2 when they spotted a car parked at the passenger drop-off point of the block at about 2.30am.

When the officers checked on the male car driver, he became hostile and aggressive. He allegedly swung a karambit knife at one of them and then held it against his own neck.

Despite repeated warnings to drop the weapon, the man refused to comply.

He will be charged in court on Oct 28 with using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty, which is punishable with an imprisonment for a term up to four years, a fine, or with both.

The man will also be charged with unauthorised possession of weapons, which punishable with an imprisonment for a term not exceeding 36 months and a fine up to $40,000.
