A man was caught on camera taking a shop owner's phone while the latter's back was turned.

Stomper Fu said the incident occurred at his phone repair store at Jurong Point shopping mall on Sept 15, at 4.04pm.

Fu was the only one at the store at that time and was occupied with doing phone repairs when the incident took place.

Videos submitted by Fu show the man, who was in shades, seemingly eyeing a smartphone on a table at the shop. The man is later seen taking the phone and walking away with it in his hands.

The phone, a RedMagic 9 Pro, was subsequently revealed to be in Tampines.

Fu, who has made a police report, told Stomp: "You can tell by this guy's skills that it's not his first time doing this.

"I'm not sure what he did with the phone because I've locked its IMEI number, so he can't use it.

"If you see this mobile phone, please contact me."

In response to a Stomp query, the police confirm that a report was lodged and are looking into the matter.
