Man takes cages with birds worth $1,500 from Toa Payoh corridor after 'doing recce'
A man was caught on camera helping himself to two bird cages along an HDB corridor in Toa Payoh on Feb 19.
Stomper Illyss shared CCTV footage of the incident that occurred at Block 195 Kim Keat Avenue at around 12pm.
In the video, a man can be seen walking up and down the corridor as well as touching one cage. He then walks out of frame, but is seen returning later.
The man removes one cage after another from where they hung, before walking off with his new pets.
Illyss told Stomp: "The man did a recee first and took the cages."
She said her husband had returned home at around 2pm and found the cages and their avian residents missing. He lodged a police report on the same day.
The stolen birds are a red-whiskered bulbul and an Indian white-eye bird. Together with the cages, they are worth $1,500.

In response to a Stomp query, the police confirm that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
Illyss said this is not the first time something like this has happened, adding: "A different man took our birds three years ago, but returned them and said sorry after we posted in all the bird groups."
