Man sent pics of cockroach in his food to Bedok stall worker who asks: 'Could this be an insect?'
A small cockroach was found in the rice bought from a Bedok stall on Jan 23.
Stomper Shak shared photos of the insect on top of the takeaway lunch he bought from Chindamani 3-Star at Block 56 New Upper Changi Road at about 10.30am.
"Once I started to eat, halfway through, I found a dead cockroach inside the rice, presumably from the curry gravy I poured."
He stopped eating and took photos to send them to the food stall via WhatsApp.
"I then called and asked the stall worker to take a look. He asked me, 'Could this be an insect?'" recounted the Stomper.
"I replied, 'If you don't know what a cockroach looks like, then you are probably not qualified to work in F&B.'"
The Stomper added that he had reported the incident to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

In response to a Stomp query, SFA said it had received feedback from the Stomper about finding the cockroach in his food from the stall.
The agency added: "SFA had inspected the food establishment and did not detect any pest infestation.
"Nevertheless, SFA had taken enforcement actions against the licensee for failure to comply with the mask/spit guard requirements.
"The licensee has been reminded to ensure that all food handlers involved in ready-to-eat food preparation comply with the mask/spit guard requirements as stipulated under the licensing conditions, and enforcement actions will be taken against those who fail to do so.
"The licensee should also observe good housekeeping and refuse management at the licensed premises."
If you have concerns about food safety practices by food operators, report to SFA via the online feedback form.
