A 34-year-old man who was perched on a window ledge at Ubi Techpark was later arrested for dangerous driving and suspected drug-related offences.

Stomper Daniel, who works in the area, shared videos he took of the incident on Feb 24.

"At around 2.15pm, I heard someone call out for help," he said.

In the footage, a man can be seen sitting on the ledge of a unit at 10 Ubi Crescent.

Police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers were at the scene, with inflatable safety life air packs set up.

In response to Stomp's queries, police said they responded to the incident at an industrial unit in Ubi Techpark at about 2.15pm while following up on a separate case.

SCDF received a call for assistance at 2.20pm.

"Upon the police's arrival, a man was observed to be sitting on the window ledge of the unit," a police spokesperson said.

"As it was assessed that the man posed a danger to himself, officers from the Special Operations Command, Crisis Negotiation Unit and SCDF were also activated and responded to the incident."

SCDF deployed safety life air packs and rescuers from the Disaster Assistance Rescue Team (DART) were on standby as a precautionary measure.

At about 3.40pm, officers managed to gain entry into the unit after the man voluntarily moved back inside and opened the door.

"The 34-year-old man was subsequently arrested in connection with a police gazette issued for dangerous driving in a previous incident, as well as for suspected drug-related offences," the police said.

"The suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau for investigations."

Investigations are ongoing.
