Man makes surprising find in book by local author -- just in time for today
May 24 is World Schizophrenia Day.
So it felt extra meaningful to Stomper Lau Lap when he came across a book about mental health days before on May 21, at around 1.30pm.
The memoir, titled Five Little White Pills, chronicles local author Choo Kah Ying's journey from manic depression to recovery.
Lau Lup said he found the book at a donation corner at Geylang East Public Library.
He was surprised when he opened the book and found a handwritten author's note on the title page.

The note said: "Getting off (medication) is not the end. It's the beginning of another journey to maintain wellness in the face of extreme difficulties that will threaten our mental health."
Lau Lup, who feels that mental illness remains a sensitive subject in society, told Stomp: "It's a touching note.
"I read the first few pages of the book and decided to bring it home as it resonated with me."
