Man loses phone outside Heartbeat@Bedok, tries calling it several times -- then gets a message
A man lost his phone in Bedok and is grateful to a kind stranger who found it and returned it him.
Stomper Jacob said it happened on Sept 7.
"I dropped my Oppo phone at the smoking area outside Heartbeat@Bedok," recounted the Stomper.
"After several attempts to call my lost phone, a kind stranger named Mr Malik responded."
Mr Malik told Stomp: "On Sunday, Sept 7, at around 10.35pm, I took my kids to Burger King at Heartbeat@Bedok. We live just a few minutes walk from there.
"On our way back, we spotted a mobile phone placed atop a police signpost. The street was empty, and although the phone was locked, the screen displayed the owner's name and a contact number.
"I called the number, but it went to voicemail. I left a message with my contact details and also sent a WhatsApp message offering to return the phone.
"At around 11.30pm, Mr Jacob called back. He was grateful and relieved."
The Stomper said: "I replied, 'Shall we meet at the same location?' He said okay."
Mr Malik said they agreed to meet the following evening at 9pm.
"As promised, we met and I returned his phone. Glad I could help."
Sharing a photo of himself and Mr Malik, the Stomper wanted to thank the man who found his device.

"I tried to give him a small token to buy dinner or some beers, which he declined. I think that was very nice of him," said the Stomper.
"I think his kindness is very much appreciated and his act is commendable."
