Man digs into meal from Al-Azhar Restaurant, finds cockroach in his mouth
A man's takeaway meal from Al-Azhar Restaurant came with extra toppings: a cockroach and a strand of hair.
Stomper Anonymous had ordered a few items from the restaurant, located along Cheong Chin Nam Road in Bukit Timah, on Nov 14 at 8.38pm.
He was disgusted to find a cockroach in his kway teow goreng and hair on a fried egg.

Anonymous said: "The cockroach was inside my mouth. I thought it was cockles or a prawn, but the shape clearly showed a roach. I called the restaurant and they were very unapologetic.
"I paid for a meal, not extra protein and hair garnish! 🪳🤢 I am extremely disappointed with Al Azhar — the cleanliness is very outrageous and their hygiene standards need serious fixing!"
He reported the incident to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and they are investigating.
SFA told Stomp in a statement: "Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices. Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained.
"Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form.
"SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices. As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained."
Stomp has contacted Al-Azhar Restaurant for more info.
