Man bleeds from head in Bedok coffee shop, suspect arrested for causing hurt with dangerous weapon
A man, 59, was arrested after another man, also 59, was left bloodied in a Bedok coffee shop on Jan 6 evening.
A brief video of two policemen speaking to the man with blood on his shirt and the side of his head was posted on Reddit.
The post said: "Went down for dinner at Block 56 New Upper Changi Road coffee shop around 6pm today and saw a man bleeding really severely from his head. Blood was everywhere on the coffee shop floor."
A stall owner told The New Paper the man was a regular customer who was known to order his coffee in a very loud voice and would sometimes shout his order repeatedly.
She claimed that a Mr Poh, the husband of one of the coffee shop owners, walked over to the man to tell him to stop shouting. The man stood up and complained that no one was taking his order.
The man stood very close to Mr Poh, who then allegedly pushed the man away before turning around to leave, said the stall owner. The man caught up with Mr Poh, who again pushed him away.
The man demanded to know who Mr Poh was and the latter replied that he was the coffee shop boss, which seemed to rile the man up and he approached Mr Poh.
After instructing a worker to take his granddaughter into the drinks stall, Mr Poh put the girl's school bag in the stall before rushing out with an object in his hand.
Mr Poh allegedly started beating the man until the latter fell down. The stall owner stopped Mr Poh while the injured man called the police.
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance at about 6.30pm.
The injured man was conscious when taken to the hospital and the suspect was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
Police investigations are ongoing.
