All for a toy.

A man allegedly refused to queue and stole a Burger King plush toy at a Suntec City event on April 12 morning.

That is according to Stomper JY, who witnessed the incident.

Held on April 11 and 12 from 11am to 8pm, the pop-up event was where you could redeem the plushie - an anthropomorphic Whopper with cheese - with a minimum spend of $20, including a Whopper, in a single receipt from any Burger King outlet.

The Stomper was there on the second day,

"I was queuing from 10am and by around 10.50pm, there was a very, very long queue already," recounted the Stomper.

"The man came to the front of the queue and demanded to speak with the staff. He claimed that he came the previous day and they promised to reserve a plush for him."

The man had told the staff he would come the next day at 9am, but because his daughters woke up late, he had only just arrived.

"The promotion terms specified that you have to show your receipt as proof of purchase, but he did not bring his physical receipt," said the Stomper.

"However, the staff confirmed that he did indeed come the day before and made a concession, asking him to join the back of the queue.

"He was not happy with this and decided to barge in the booth and move the barricades. The manager and another staff member tried to stop him but were unsuccessful and he ran away with one plush toy and his two daughters."

The Stomper was appalled by the man's behaviour.

"I think he was horrible and a terrible example to his kids. This was plain daylight robbery," said the Stomper, who shared a video of the incident.

"The video shows him fighting the staff and taking the plush toy."

The Stomper added: "When I talked to staff later, they mentioned that there was sufficient stock if he would just join the back of the queue."

In response to a Stomp query, a Burger King spokesperson said: "We're aware of the situation and are currently reviewing it internally with our team.

"While we won't be commenting on specific individuals, we'd like to share that our on-ground staff did their best to handle the matter calmly and professionally - and we're proud of how they responded.

"We care deeply about our customers and the communities we're part of, and just as importantly, we make it a priority to support and protect our crew on the ground. Our team works hard to create positive, memorable experiences at every touchpoint - and that includes managing unexpected situations with patience and care.

"The Whopper Made Clean pop-up was designed to bring a little joy and excitement to our fans - and we're heartened by the strong turnout and enthusiasm over the past few days, especially around our exclusive merchandise and activations.

"We know how much our customers look forward to these experiences, and we're grateful for the support and energy from the community."
