Man arrested for using stolen credit card information to buy over $24,000 worth of USS Tickets

A 35-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of unauthorised transactions using stolen credit card information via a mobile wallet.

The incident came to light on Oct 14 when the police were alerted to possible fraudulent activities near Sentosa Gateway.

Following investigations by the Clementi Police Division and the Anti-Scam Command (ASCom), the man was apprehended.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he had allegedly used a mobile wallet, loaded with stolen credit card details, to purchase over $24,000 worth of Universal Studios Singapore (USS) tickets at a self-help ticketing kiosk.

During the arrest, the police seized more than 280 USS tickets believed to have been purchased using the stolen credit card information, along with two SD cards, four drone equipment, and seven mobile phones.

The man will face charges in court on Oct 16 for abetment by conspiracy to commit cheating.

The offence carries a potential jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The police remind the public that unauthorised use of another person's credit or debit card information is a serious crime and will be dealt with accordingly.
