Man arrested for loanshark harassment, cops seize long-winded note asking debtor to 'settle nicely'
They are usually short and not so sweet.
But one debtor's note seized by police was unusually long-winded, asking the debtor to "settle nicely" three times.
The police were alerted to the case of loanshark harassment at Admiralty Drive on Jan 12. The main door and gate of two residential units were splashed with red paint.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the 27-year-old man and arrested him the next day.
A debtor's note and two cans of paint were seized as case exhibit.

The man will be charged in court on Jan 15 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.
For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
