A 65-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital after an accident with a car along North Bridge Road on Aug 18.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident, which occurred in the direction of South Bridge Road, at around 10pm.

The pedestrian was conscious when he was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

"A 58-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations," police added.

A member of the public, Ms Xu, told Shin Min Daily News that she heard a loud bang and saw the man being knocked down to the ground.

She said: "The traffic light was showing the red man. It was the green light for drivers, so I was waiting for to cross the road. I believe the car was going straight."

According to Ms Xu, the man was bleeding from the left side of his head. He was seen lying motionless on the ground and only regained consciousness three minutes later.

There was also a pool of blood on the road.

The car driver and passengers had gotten out of their vehicle to check on the man.

Ms Xu said she was told by one of the female passengers that the car had likely hit the man's legs, causing him to lose his balance, fall and hit his head.

The man reportedly wanted to continue crossing the road, but was stopped by Ms Xu.

She recounted: "He kept saying 'my motorcycle, my motorcycle' while gesturing at it. I believe he wanted to retrieve his bike."

However, Ms Xu and her husband pulled the man back to the scene and waited for the ambulance to arrive.

Police investigations are ongoing.
