A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged for his suspected involvement in a series of loanshark harassment cases.

The police said they were alerted to the cases between 4pm and 11pm on July 16, in which the main gates and doors of several residential units were splashed with red paint and debtor’s notes were left behind.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him within six hours of the report.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he is believed to be involved in at least eight similar cases of loanshark harassment.

The man was charged in court on July 18 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.
