Long rod falls from unfinished elevated MRT track at Jurong junction, nearly lands on vehicles
It could have hit one of the vehicles.
A long rod fell from an unfinished elevated MRT track at a busy Jurong junction and nearly struck the traffic below.
Stomper Malcolm shared dashcam footage of the incident, which happened at the junction of Jalan Bahar and Jurong West Avenue 2 on Oct 3 at 9.30am.
The video shows the cam car travelling on Jalan Bahar towards the junction and slowing to a stop for the traffic light.
As the vehicles coming towards the cam car from Jalan Boon Lay were turning right, the long rod fell from the unfinished elevated track and landed in the middle of the junction near a white lorry and a white van.
The rod landed vertically on the road before toppling over.
The unfinished track is part of the upcoming Jurong Region Line.
Addressing the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the Stomper said: "You guys trying to get someone killed?
"Look at the size of the rebar. It will easily penetrate through any car roof or glass."
A rebar, which is short for reinforcing bar, refers to a steel bar used to reinforce concrete.
"Lucky the traffic light was red for me. If not, I don't even know where I would be."
He told Stomp that after the light changed to green, he drove around the fallen object.
Stomp has contacted the LTA for more info.
