Local stars sing Happy Birthday to Li Nanxing to celebrate his 40 years in show business

Singaporean actor Li Nanxing held a star-studded party at Raffles Sentosa Singapore hotel on Aug 27 to celebrate four decades in local show business.
Among the celebrities who showed up were actors Desmond Tan, Huang Biren, Pan Lingling, Chen Xiuhuan, Phyllis Quek, Cavin Soh, Brandon Wong, Edwin Goh, Hong Huifang and Zheng Geping.
Stars Vivian Lai, Constance Song, Julie Tan and Shane Pow, who are under Li’s artiste management company LNX Global, were also in attendance, as well as make-up artist Dollei Seah and stylist Martin Ip.
Photos on social media posted on Aug 27 and 28 showed them raising their glasses at sunset on an outdoor patio against the tropical greenery.
They also posed for photos at fine-dining Chinese restaurant Royal China, where they tucked into dishes such as stewed pork ribs in white pepper, as well as desserts like chilled bird’s nest and coconut ice cream.
In a video posted on Aug 27, guests were seen singing the Happy Birthday song to the 60-year-old star in English and Mandarin. He was presented with a cake themed around playing cards, a reference to his iconic role as punter Yan Fei in the gambling-themed Channel 8 drama The Unbeatables (1993).
Li’s actual birthday is on Nov 7.
After blowing out the candles, he said: “I hope everyone will have a successful career and good health. That is most important.”

His famous friends also posted well-wishes for Li, who debuted in 1986 with the Channel 8 drama Crossroads, on their social media.
Soh, 54, wrote: “40 years in the entertainment industry! What a great evening with good company and good food.”
Chen, 59, added: “40 years, countless roles, endless memories. Congratulations on this incredible milestone.”
Huang, 56, also expressed her congratulations, adding: “Looking forward to seeing more of your amazing accomplishments in your next chapters. Cheers.”
Song, 50, wrote: “It’s truly amazing to see how far he has come – dedicating four decades to his craft and becoming the one and only icon of Singapore’s film industry. From young to old, generations of audiences have loved and adored him.
“To me, he will always be our Ah Ge – our No. 1 actor, so talented yet so kind-hearted, and one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with.”
