Update on Sept 24:

Little India standoff: 4 men to be charged with public nuisance, using abusive language against police

Original article:

Three men were caught on video arguing with policemen after discovering that their path had been blocked by a police cordon on the morning of Sept 22.

Stomper Rey shared a video of the incident, which was also uploaded on TikTok.

It happened in Little India near where an early morning brawl on Sept 22 resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man, for which a 22-year-old man will be charged with murder. Three other men and two women will be charged with rioting armed with a deadly weapon.

The police had cordoned off the area around Verdun Road, including an alley behind Mustafa Centre, for investigations.

The problem for the three men was that only part of the alleyway was cordoned off.

So they discovered the cordon only after they had walked three quarters of the alley and were told by two policemen behind a police tape to turn back, which led to the trio venting their frustration.

In the video, one of the men can be heard saying rather loudly that the police should have assigned someone to stand at the entrance of the alleyway to inform people to avoid the area.

Having heard enough, one of the policemen said: "Over here, you cannot cross. I'm not here to argue with you."

The man retorted: "Who's arguing with you?"

As voices were raised, two other policemen appeared and one of them tried to de-escalate the situation by persuading the men to leave.

One of the men joked that the policeman they had been haranguing was starting to cry and told his companions to leave before the video ends.

Stomp understands the cordon has since been removed.
