Jing Li Hwa Fish Ball with Fish Roe Filling recalled due to undeclared presence of egg

Egg has been detected in Jing Li Hwa Fish Ball with Fish Roe Filling even though it was not listed on the food packaging.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has directed the importer, Sin Hin Frozen Food Pte Ltd, to recall the implicated products as egg is an allergen. The recall is ongoing.

The affected products originate from Taiwan and have an expiry date of Aug 5, 2026.

"Allergens in food could result in allergic reaction in individuals who are sensitive to it," said SFA in a media release on Oct 3.

Under Singapore's Food Regulations, food products containing ingredients that are known to cause hypersensitivity must be declared on food packaging labels to protect consumers with food allergies.

All ingredients in prepacked food should also be specified on the product label in descending order of the proportions by weight in which they are present.

Eggs do not pose a food safety issue to consumers at large, except for those who are intolerant of or allergic to them, SFA noted.

Those who have purchased the affected burgers and have an egg allergy should not consume them. Seek medical advice if you have concerns about your health.

Consumers may contact their point of purchase for enquiries.
