A crocodile was spotted at Woodlands Waterfront Park on Sept 18 at around 7am.

Stomper Tahir shared a video of the reptile in the sea beside the promenade.

"At least 2.5m in length, the crocodile was sighted resting near Woodlands Jetty," said the Stomper, who was working around the area when he took the video.

A photo of a crocodile at Woodlands Waterfront Park was also taken on the same day and posted in the Singapore Wildlife Sightings Facebook group.

In September 2021, another Stomper also shared a video of a crocodile at Woodlands Waterfront Park.

Could they all be the same animal? How many crocodiles could there be at Woodlands Waterfront Park?

The most recent reported crocodile sighting in Singapore was in July this year near Yishun Dam.

National Parks Board (NParks) group director for wildlife management How Choon Beng told The Straits Times it was likely to be an estuarine crocodile, also known as the saltwater crocodile.

"We are monitoring the sighting and have placed advisory signs around the area to warn the public to stay away from the water's edge," said Mr Ho.

On its website NParks advises that if you encounter a crocodile:

  • Stay calm and back away.
  • Do not approach, provoke or feed the animal.
  • Call NParks' Animal Response Centre at 1800-476-1600 for any assistance required.
