Welcome to Stomping Ground – a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.

A commuter is urging fellow women to be careful and take a stand against inappropriate behaviour after she was allegedly molested on a bus.

Stomper Z said the incident occurred while she was on bus service 291 from Tampines West on Feb 27, at around 7.25am.

She recounted: "I would like to raise awareness about inappropriate behavior that can occur on crowded buses.

"The bus was already getting crowded when an older man boarded at the bus stop between blocks 701 and 702. Although it was crowded, it wasn’t packed to the point where people were pressed against each other.

"The man stood behind me, and at first, I felt something soft brushing against my butt. I assumed it was just someone’s bag, so I didn’t think much of it.

"However, it became clear that this was intentional when the contact continued and started to feel more presumptuous.

"As a shy person, I didn’t feel brave enough to act in the moment, and sadly, I didn’t manage to get any proof that he was touching me.

"When the bus reached the interchange, I was too scared to get off until he had left.

"I just wanted to share this experience to remind other girls and women to be cautious when taking crowded buses or MRT trains, and to be brave enough to stand up against such inappropriate behaviour."

Stomp has advised the Stomper to lodge a police report.
