'Insane' to pay $9 for cai fan with '2 mouthfuls' of fish costing $6 at Hougang foodcourt: Stomper
Is $9 too much to pay for economical rice?
Stomper Lei thinks so.
It happened to his friend at the Kopitiam foodcourt in Hougang 1 mall on Sept 26.
"My friend bought cai fan from the He Jia Econ Rice stall," recounted the Stomper.
"The plate was $9 for two vegetables and one fish. The slice of fish was $6. My friend thought it would be around $3."
The Stomper said he went to ask the stall about the price of the fish and it was confirmed to be $6.
"We could've topped up $2 and got a full western set with soup, fries, pasta, chicken and salad," he lamented.
"Nine dollars for cai fan is insane."
Asked whether he was aware fish is notoriously expensive at cai fan stalls, the Stomper replied: "$6 is a bit much, don't you think? And it was only two mouthfuls."
