If you find yourself near Block 490 Jurong West Avenue1, you may be treated to a surprising sight - a large monitor lizard.

Stomper Wilson estimated the reptile to be about two metres long and described it as a 'huge guy'.

The Stomper shared with Stomp that he spots it every weekend when he is in the area visiting his father.

Despite its intimidating size, it appears to be minding its own business, taking a leisurely swim.

Wilson shared another clip with Stomp taken on an earlier occasion in which a smaller monitor lizard is seen 'giving way' to the senior reptile.

"Reptiles have more respect than humans," he said.

The canal holds nostalgic memories for the Stomper who shared:

"This canal connects to Lakeside.

"When we were younger, back in 1984, we could swim here, but it's banned now."
