Hougang accident leads to backpack of vapes, 2 drivers arrested for drug offences
An accident involving a Toyota car and a Mazda car in Hougang resulted in the arrest of the two drivers in the early hours of Aug 30.
Stomper Arne shared photos of the accident's aftermath, showing the Toyota flipped on its side.
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident at 120 Hougang Avenue 2 at 12.15am.
The male Mazda driver, 28, was arrested for drink driving and suspected drug-related offences. E-vaporisers and pods were also found in his car and referred to the Health Sciences Authority.
The 40-year-old male Toyota driver was arrested for suspected drug-related offences.
The suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau.
No injuries were reported, said the police.
Eyewitnesses said the Toyota slammed into a stationary Mazda, reported The Straits Times.
A petrol kiosk attendant was on duty when he heard a loud bang and found the Toyota driver trapped inside the vehicle.
He pulled the driver out of the car. The attendant said the man did not appear to have any injuries and asked where the nearest toilet was.
A resident said he saw a man getting out of the Mazda and running towards the nearby housing blocks after the accident. Another resident said the man looked like he was trying to dispose of something.
After Traffic Police officers questioned the Toyota driver, they searched him and pulled out a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance, believed to be a controlled drug.

Officers also removed a backpack from the Mazda and found in the bag dozens of vapes.

The police said investigations are ongoing.
